CLARE VALLEY

CLARE VALLEY & SURROUNDING REGIONS • Clare is an often overlooked region in South Australia when compared with its more out there neighbours, Barossa and McLaren Vale. This is a shame as it produces excellent cabernets and shiraz and arguably Australia’s finest rieslings. Here is a shapshot of what it can deliver.

RIVER REGIONS - SA, VIC & NSW

RIVER REGIONS • With the interest in alternative Mediterranean varietals the Riverlands are really coming to the fore. Here the warmer climate is perfect for the wines that struggle to ripen in other regions. Here we show a great snapshot of what they have to offer.

SWEET WHITE & FORTIFIED • Some say that these wines are a dying art which is ridiculous given the world class quality that we see with the best wines of these styles. It is true that it does require a level of expertise that not all winemakers can achieve at the highest level but the effort is well worth the result.

THE AWARD WINNERS ARE… • Australia & New Zealand INTERNATIONAL CERTIFIED organic & Biodynamic WINE AWARDS™ 2022

ORGANIC & BIODYNAMIC WINES • A nice judging of pure fruit wines this year showing again how far this movement has come. Unfortunately we lost our international partners Millesime Bio of France who discontinued their operation, so this year it is a trans-Tasman judging. Lots to like overall.

NEW RELEASES • It is very interesting to see the rise of alternative varietals, which are getting better and better as winemakers and the public take them more seriously. This also goes hand in hand with the trend to more mid-weight stylistic wines. The only downside is the 'sameness' occurring across regions, with the benefit being a consistency of freshness and vibrancy.
