Confidence Boost • Art auctions are hitting their stride just over two years into the pandemic. While a Shanghai sale confirmed the Chinese market’s appetite for international contemporary artists and Asian masters, in New York, auction debuts secured impressive figures, and Hong Kong continues to bring out big-ticket items.

Tokens of the Future • As many countries in the Asia-Pacific have not yet reopened their borders to nonresidents, hybrid models combining physical events and virtual viewing platforms remained the new normal at fairs across the region in early 2022.
