Dumbo Feather

Issue 62
Magazine

Dumbo Feather is an iconic Australian magazine. Published quarterly for seven years, and hailed around the world as a design leader, it is a magazine like no other. Our readers are people who want to be told a different story than the one they hear every day. Each quarterly issue features five extended (20 page) profiles of people worth knowing, across enterprise, education, science, sport, politics, fashion and the arts. Whether they’ve touched millions, or just those around them, we take the time to get to know these people, and ask them to tell us their stories.

Beyond the Veil • It’s fascinating to observe the similarities in what mystics and mystic traditions have articulated throughout history. We’ve collated just some of them to give insight into the experience of mysticism and how it has shaped societies, consciousness and our relationship to the Universe since the beginning of time.

Unlocking Sacred Geometry • A professional artist and colour therapist, Stephanie June Ellis has dedicated more than 10 years to studying the complex geometric patterns which make up the universe—from the planetary positions in the solar system to the symmetrical lines on a leaf. She runs workshops and retreats across Australia and overseas which guide people through a creative process in geometric pattern work, reconnecting them with the symbols and equations deep within. Here she shares her insights into the universal language of geometry.

Embracing the Mysteries of Biodynamics • Peter Kearney has been studying and practising biodynamic farming for more than 20 years. Based in rural Queensland, he runs workshops and speaks at conferences on how this method of organic agriculture—which was introduced by Austrian philosopher and clairvoyant Rudolf Steiner in 1924—encompasses mystical ideas to restore and enhance ecological harmony. He shares his insights into biodynamics and how it plays out in his own backyard.
