Vanity Fair UK

Star QUALITY • From the riviera to the red carpet, these are the products, pieces and places getting our vote this awards season

Editor’s Letter

Contributors

VANITIES • VANITAS VANITATUM

Hot MIC • How TAYLOR TOMLINSON moved from the Christian comedy circuit to James Corden’s old slot

Love Story • The Notebook opens on Broadway this month, with music and lyrics by Ingrid Michaelson. Here, she shares her inspirations.

Hot TALENT • The great and the good of the acting world celebrated the nominees of the EE Rising Star award at Pavyllon London for V.F.’s pre-BAFTA party.

Holey GRAIL • Knit, knot, net! Take inspiration from the wealth of textiles on display at “Woven Histories,” now on view at the National Gallery of Art. May fiber fancies abound

True GLITZ • When Sabato De Sarno took the helm at Gucci last year, he set out to minimize the maximization that had reached an apotheosis under Alessandro Michele. In an otherwise sleek and street-sharp collection—wide, crisp denim; micro shorts; tiny tanks; wool blazers—the crystal embellishments spattered throughout De Sarno’s debut were one of the few frivolities. This glittering iteration on the Jackie 1961 design brings classic charm to a house shape. Chandelier not included, but best believe some of the best things are still bejeweled.

DESERT Menu • As Dune: Part Two brings its epic sandscape to the big screen, a group of perfumes evokes the brusque, beguiling aspects of arid climes

ACCESS IS EVERYTHING

City FOLK • These narratives paint a rich portrait of a glittering, communal, and bygone NYC

SHELF SERVE Trenchant novels, facts scarier than fiction, poignant memoirs, and more

Snappy DRESSERS • Perhaps it was prescient timing for Hollywood’s biggest night out—and some nostalgia for the era before smartphone pics—that prompted this season’s crop of objets d’art camera bags. Clever details, including a makeup mirror hidden behind a faux lens protector (Chanel) and a removable strap (Louis Vuitton), infuse the fanciful with the practical (though no actual camera function). Get ready for your close-up.

BOLD & Beautiful • Everything’s bigger in LISA EISNER’s world, from a gloriously sculptural jewelry line with The Row to her feathered coats and giant ferns

A New WAVE • The glitterati of stage and screen came together to celebrate the next generation of acting talent at the annual Vanity Fair EE Rising Star Award party in London.

Netflix Can CHILL • Two years after a stock crash that destabilized the industry and inspired endless schadenfreude, the streamer’s reputation—and finances—have bounced back

When the STARS ALIGN • For our 30th ANNUAL HOLLYWOOD ISSUE, we tapped 11 stars making the most of a transformative era by taking chances and taking charge. Here’s a peek at what happens when some of the industry’s most vibrant talents let loose

THE Power & THE Glamour A HOLLYWOOD PORTFOLIO • As the strike dust settles and America reacquaints itself with the box office (thank you, Barbenheimer), VANITY FAIR spotlights LA’s most influential characters, the players keeping the town running

STEALING SUNSET • After waking up to an intruder in the bedroom one night, writer...
