Welcome

We love November • I wish to make a candid confession - I quite like November as it gives me the excuse to wear something wooly. A thick sweater, my warmest alpaca socks and, if occasion demands, a very old tweed suit that seldom gets an airing. For the past few months, we have been toying with short sleeves and the occasional open-toed sandal but now we can lapse into a world of chunky corduroy and cashmere vests. Winter is coming so we, and our gardens, might just as well make the most of the dropping temperatures and cosy up: bring on the fuzzy headgear.

Expert’s choice Roses with hips • There are many roses you can grow for their great hips, some more legal than others, says Graham Rice

15 FREE Tulipa Tropical Sunset Mix • with every order of Alstroemeria Hybrid Mix

The Full Monty • Climate change and its effects are here to stay, but with careful planning and planting, says Monty, we can all play a part in reducing the risks

Have your say • The view from your side of the fence

Clippings • Our roundup of the month’s latest gardening news and views

My gardening world Debbie McGee
