It is an exhibition of the latest designs in the region and a wonderland for serious contemporary design fans seeking a glimpse of new and upcoming trends. Urbis attended the event and found these highlights.

Things to do • This selection of wintry events brings style and bite to the cultural calendar.

Golden treatment • The former Reserve Bank’s gold vaults are now an oasis of fitness and well-being.

Books • Tomes that excel in their slick forms, wealth of ideas and confident personae.

Vitreous citrus • Mondo lemony, plenty of citrus, gloriously glassy and a dash of refreshing blue make the world go stylishly around!

TOP SHELF: Blueberry • Turn a hint of ’80s and a splash of pop into a cool blueberry sorbet for the modern home.

Technophile • For those who want to hear it, shave it, work it, track it or watch it – Dean Cornish checks out an eclectic mix of top-notch technology.

Interior Awards 2019 • Winners of the highly anticipated Interior Awards were announced at an Auckland ceremony – attended by more than 400 people – on 27 June 2019. The 10 winners included the recipient of the first-ever Residential Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award winner. For full coverage, visit architecturenow.co.nz

PERFECT CHEMISTRY • This former factory has been transformed into a spacious family home, a sports car repository and an equine genetics laboratory. Leanne Amodeo explores this unique and somewhat puzzling alchemy.

COGNAC AND PUNCH • THIS WONDERLAND OF BOLD MOVES AND BLUE-CHIP ARTWORKS IS A PAEAN TO TASTE ON THE PORTUGUESE COAST.

ODE TO BRUTALISM • THE BRIEF FOR THIS SYDNEY APARTMENT CALLED FOR A CONCRETE BOX… THE RESULT, SURPRISINGLY, IS A WARM AND INVITING GEM.

SURF AND CANOPY • Dreams of living in a tree house culminated in this Costa Rican vacation spot, dripping in verdure.

MYSTIQUE TO SUIT • Set within a brazen, nonconformist building of 11 bespoke apartments, this abode fittingly offers an artisanal-yet-elegant edge to Melbourne’s bohemian suburb.

AFTERGLOW • WHEN DAY BECOMES NIGHT, THE TRUE COLOURS OF THIS MEXICAN HOME COME OUT TO PLAY.
