GOLDEN GIRL • It was 2015, and Margot Robbie was shining bright and new in Hollywood …

MY FATHER’S STORY • In honour of Father’s Day, Walkley Award-winning journalist Stan Grant pays tribute to his Aboriginal father and the examples of hardship, pain and strength he saw as a child. Grant drew on his family history in writing the new film The Australian Dream, a documentary about the life and career of footballer Adam Goodes and of Australia’s first peoples.

GET DRESSED • There’s change afoot with the new season and it requires looking the part. Fashion has come alive with renewed sophistication and a return to the ritual of choosing an outfit. Take on a bourgeois bent, minus the sober stuffiness and embrace a world of elegance.

DIVIDE & CONQUER • Ignore the naysayers, this trend has legs. Culottes are making a comeback.

THE AGE OF ELEGANCE • The new season is upon us and it’s time to embrace change – step up, grow up and dress up.

KNOW NO BOUNDS • These designers are democratising what it means to get dressed to the hilt. Their ethos is simple: elegance should be for all, so flout gender norms and let the pendulum swing where it may.

LIFE IN COLOUR • A new exhibition celebrates the dynamic contribution and pure fashion joy of Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson.

LIFE JACKET • Investment pieces that stand the test of time need not be plain. Giorgio Armani has revised the traditional blazer, taking its tailored masculinity and rendering it in sumptuous velvet to flatter the female form.

STAND FIRM • Exhibition without inhibition was in plain sight at Gucci, with its kitten-heel slide sandals. Slip a pair on for instant elevation, in inches and in style.

HOLD FOREVER • It may be a new era at Celine, but Hedi Slimane is playing the classics. Notice the concentric circles? These are an illusion as much as they are an allusion: a classic style that will stand the test of time.

FINDING HER GROOVE • Stripping out the frills and flounce that once defined a New York mainstay was a big risk, but one that Nicola Glass was willing to take at the all-new Kate Spade.

BRIGHT SIDE • One look at Benjamin Garg’s rich hues should nix your neutrals obsession, writes Clare Press.

STYLE FOR DAYS • To mark its 25th birthday, Melbourne Fashion Week is celebrating the best of fashion on the Australian stage. Vogue picks other Melbourne talents to watch now.

SANDER LAK • We ask fashion’s preeminent talents to mine their inspirations and curate their world through style. Sander Lak, the designer of Sies Marjan, shares his.

SO HAPPY TOGETHER • The elegant parure is making a modern return. Hark back to jewellery sets of centuries past and pair a pendant with earrings, and bracelets with rings. There’s only one rule for wearing them: in company.

HIT MAKERS • Singer and actor Zendaya’s design collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger may look to the 1970s, but its message of inclusivity is firmly rooted in the now.

STANISLAVA PINCHUK • As an artist specialising in data mapping global conflict zones, Stanislava Pinchuk, a.k.a Miso, shares the titles that have helped formulate her taste and visual vocabulary.

VOGUE AUSTRALIA FESTIVAL 18/19 OCT • Vogue Festival is back in Adelaide, bigger and better than ever before, with more fashion, fun and food – so much that we’ve added an extra...
