In this final title in his Greek trilogy, Fry himself narrates with unbounded enthusiasm and high energy. His deep voice and British accent lend a dignified air to these stories, while his contemporary take on dialogue and phrasing brings the tales to life for today's listeners. As one might expect, it is often difficult to keep unfamiliar names and complicated historical deeds straight as the ancient details pour forth, raising the question as to how appropriate this title might be for the audio format. Indeed, some segments are much more listener-friendly than others. Devoted audio fans may have the agility to follow Fry's beautifully drawn web of characters and complex sentence structures; casual listeners may do better with the printed text for support.
